ANNUAL AWARDS

Potomac Marlins Annual Awards are presented each spring at our annual awards ceremony to swimmers who have achieved specific goals, milestones, and achievments during the current season.  Award categories, eligibility, and requirements have been chosen by the Marlins coaching staff to acknowledge swimmers for their efforts and committment in areas deemed vital to their development, success, and enjoyment in the sport.

NEW TEM MEMBER MEDAL

Presented to first year swimmers who have participated in 2 or more USA swim meets during the short course season (Sept. - March)

MIGHTY MARLINS PARTICIPATION MEDAL

Presented to all First year Mighty Marlins swimmers who have been with the program for more than half of the season.

IMX QUALIFIER PIN
for PARTICIPANTS

Presented to 9-14 year old swimmers who have qualified for AND participated in the USA annual IMX meet.

PVS AGE GROUP CHAMPS QUALIFIER PIN
for PARTICIPANTS

Presented to swimmers who have qualified for AND participated in  the PVS annual 14 & under AGE GROUP CHAMPS swim meet.

PVS SENIOR CHAMPS QUALIFIER PIN
for PARTICIPANT

Presented to swimmers who have qualified for AND participated in the PVS annual Senior Champs swim meet.

PVS TOP 16

Presented to swimmers who have achieved TOP 16 status in the Potomac Valley LSC in one or more events during the current short course season.

USAS TOP 16

Presented to swimmers who have achieved TOP 16 status in the Nation in USAS in one or more events during the current short course season.

TEAM RECORDS 
(Short Course & Long Course)

Presented to swimmers who have broken one or more of the team's short course or long course records.

IRON OCTOPUS

Presented to swimmers (age 9-18) who have successfully (no DQs) completed  ALL of the possible events in their age group during the short course season (Sept. - March).

9-12:  50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 50 back, 100 back, 200 back, 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast, 50 fly, 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 IM, 200 IM)

13-18: 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 1000 free, 1650 free, 100 back, 200 back, 100 breast, 200 breast, 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM)

TIME BANDIT

Presented to the top 3 male and female swimmers in each event who have dropped the most time during the short course season regardless of age.  Times are calculated from a swimmers previous season best time OR their first recorded swim of the season relative to their fastes time as of the end of March.  A min. of 2 swims in the same event must be accomplished to have a recorded time drop.

GRADUATING SEIOR AWARD

Presented to all Graduating Seniors who have spent at least one season with the team.

COACH'S AWARD

Presented to swimmers who have been chosen by their primary deck coaches for their noticable actions and performance during the season in any or all of these listed categories. This award is subjective and by it's very nature, completely up to each coach to determine the parameters.

Attitude, Sportsmanship, Leadership, Work Ethic, Attendance Consistency, Time Imporovement, Technique Improvement, Effort Improvement, Grattitide, Team Pride, Loyalty, etc...
